Our Story

Built by a QA engineer, for QA engineers

AssertHired exists because the resources I needed when I was interviewing at big tech companies simply did not exist. I built the platform I wish I had.

Aston Cook

Senior QA Automation Engineer, Founder of AssertHired

I have been in QA automation for over 10 years. I have built test frameworks from scratch, led QA teams across distributed organizations, and personally gone through interview loops at Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. I know what those rooms feel like.

What I found every time I was preparing was the same gap: the resources available were either too generic (study these 50 software engineering concepts) or too shallow (here is a list of definitions). Nothing gave me realistic practice with the actual questions QA interviewers ask, graded from the perspective of someone who has sat on both sides of the table.

So I built AssertHired. The mission is straightforward: make QA interview preparation practical, not just theoretical. Every question in the platform came from real interview loops. Every scoring rubric reflects how QA hiring managers think about answers. The feedback you get after an interview is the feedback I wish I had received when I was sitting in those chairs.

Since launching, I have helped over 500 QA professionals prepare for and land roles at companies including Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Stripe. The platform keeps growing because the problem keeps mattering. QA engineers have real, specialized skills. They deserve specialized preparation.

The mission

QA engineers are often underrepresented in the interview prep ecosystem. The dominant platforms are built for software engineers chasing FAANG offers with algorithm puzzles. QA work is different. It requires systems thinking, test strategy, deep tool expertise, and the ability to advocate for quality in environments that move fast.

AssertHired's mission is to close that gap. We want every QA engineer who walks into an interview to feel prepared for the actual questions they will face, not just the questions they guessed they might face.

What makes AssertHired different

1

Built for QA, not adapted for QA

Generic interview platforms train you on LeetCode algorithms and system design for backend engineers. AssertHired asks about flaky tests, page object patterns, test pyramid strategy, and frameworks like Playwright and Selenium. Every question and scoring dimension was calibrated to what QA hiring managers actually evaluate.

2

AI that understands QA craft

The AI interviewer has deep context on QA-specific topics: test strategy trade-offs, automation framework design, CI/CD pipeline integration, API contract testing, and performance testing methodology. It scores your answers across four dimensions real interviewers use: Technical Accuracy, Test Coverage, Clarity, and Best Practices.

3

Real questions from real interviews

Every question in AssertHired was drawn from actual QA interview loops at companies including Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Salesforce, and Stripe. You practice the questions that are genuinely being asked right now, not textbook definitions.

4

Immediate, actionable feedback

After each interview, you receive a structured scorecard and targeted feedback explaining what you got right, what was missing, and how a strong answer would have been framed. This tight loop is what turns practice into real improvement.
