Tell me about your biggest testing failure. What happened and what did you learn?

  • failure
  • learning
  • self-awareness

Answer it first, then compare. Nothing here is saved or scored.

Model answer

Authenticity matters here. Describe a real situation, a bug you missed, an environment you did not test, or a regression you overlooked. Explain the impact honestly. Then focus on the systemic fix: what process change, automation addition, or checklist you created to prevent recurrence. Strong answers show growth and humility rather than defensiveness.

What interviewers listen for

  • Ownership
You name what you personally did, not what "the team" did.
  • Calibration
You can articulate when you escalated, and when you absorbed the issue without escalating.
  • Influence without authority
You moved a developer or a PM by sharing data, not by pulling rank.
