What you’ll be asked.
LoadRunner interviews focus on its three core components and the concepts that make a load test valid. Expect questions on VuGen (recording and scripting virtual users), and especially correlation, capturing dynamic server values (session IDs, tokens) so replay works, which is the single most-asked LoadRunner topic, versus parameterization (varying input data per virtual user). You will be asked about the Controller (designing scenarios, ramp-up, think time, pacing, load generators) and Analysis (reading response times, throughput, percentiles, and finding bottlenecks). Protocol selection (Web HTTP/HTML, TruClient, API) and how performance results map to SLAs and SLOs also come up.
Topics covered.
Key areas interviewers evaluate when asking about loadrunner.
VuGen Scripting
Recording and scripting virtual users, transactions, and verifying replay.
Correlation
Capturing dynamic server values (session IDs, tokens) so scripts replay correctly, the top topic.
Parameterization
Varying input data per virtual user so they do not all submit identical data.
Controller & Scenarios
Designing scenarios: ramp-up, think time, pacing, virtual users, and load generators.
Analysis
Reading response times, throughput, percentiles, and identifying bottlenecks.
Protocols & SLAs
Choosing protocols (Web, TruClient, API) and mapping results to SLAs and SLOs.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is correlation in LoadRunner?
Correlation captures dynamic values the server generates (session IDs, tokens, view states) during recording and feeds them back on replay, so each virtual user uses fresh, valid values instead of stale recorded ones. Without correlation, scripts fail on replay. It is the most important, and most-asked, LoadRunner skill.
What is the difference between correlation and parameterization?
Correlation handles dynamic values the server returns (so replay works). Parameterization varies input data you provide (different usernames, search terms) so virtual users do not all submit identical data. Correlation is about valid replay; parameterization is about realistic, varied load.
Is LoadRunner still used compared to JMeter or k6?
LoadRunner remains common in large enterprises for its protocol breadth and analysis, while JMeter (open source) and k6 (developer-friendly, code-based) dominate elsewhere. Performance roles in big organizations still ask about LoadRunner; the concepts transfer across all three.
Can I practice LoadRunner questions on AssertHired?
Yes. The AI interviewer asks LoadRunner correlation, scenario-design, and analysis questions with follow-ups and scores you across four dimensions.
